Comparing the 5 models of the Galaxy Z Fold Series
The smartphone manufacturing giant Samsung has several models in its collection, but the Galaxy Z Fold stands out due to its unique design. The device can be easily folded to turn from a mobile into a tablet and vice versa. But this isn’t its only selling point. The Z Fold has a high-performance processor, quality cameras, 5G compatibility, an extended battery life, and several other features worth having in a smartphone.
Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold models
Samsung had been working on the idea of a foldable phone since 2013. However, it presented a prototype years later, in 2018, at its developer conference. There are five exciting Galaxy Fold models today. Here’s a quick look at the lineup:
1. Galaxy Fold
The brand released its first foldable phone, the Samsung Galaxy Fold, in 2019. It was initially made available to a limited set of reviewer audiences and did not yet have the “Z” branding. Unfortunately, this launch was a disaster. Several reviewers reported instances of malfunctioning, and Samsung had to recall the Galaxy Fold.
After the seismic disaster, Samsung addressed the issues and reimagined the phone completely. It took care of folding points by adding micro brushes and two plastic caps to prevent debris entry. The screen protector was built so users could not mistakenly peel it off. The brand launched the phone to the public a few months later, which was successful. It’s still available in the pre-owned market, featuring a 4380mAh battery, 512GB storage, 12GB RAM, and a 12MP main camera.
2. Galaxy Z Fold2
Unlike the previous Fold, this phone has a more prominent front display, standard 5G capability, and a better-designed punch hole inside. The Galaxy Z Fold2 is also more durable. It houses Samsung’s One UI 5 software, Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 5G+, 12GB RAM, and non-expandable 256/ 512GB memory. This smartphone can take hands-free selfies, time-lapse videos, and video calls.
3. Galaxy Z Fold3
This foldable phone launched in the first half of 2021 with specifications similar to the Fold2. For instance, one gets the One UI 5 software, 12GB RAM, and non-expandable 256/512GB memory. However, it’s more durable and more mainstream. Customers also enjoy the benefits of Android 12 and a 4400mAh, non-removable battery pack.
4. Galaxy Z Fold4
The Galaxy Z Fold 4 lets users work more efficiently. Its bigger 7.6-inch display is excellent for viewing videos and bouncing between different tabs, like on a computer or laptop.
